My current role

Marketing Manager

Coolabah Turf

I was ecstatic to have recently picked up a role as Marketing Manager at Coolabah Turf. As the leading instant turf supplier for Victoria, this role is a dream role, working in the picturesque tourist town of Echuca with one of the states leading lifestyle brands. A passionate lawn enthusiast myself, I lead the marketing function and look forward to being able to bring positive impacts to Coolabah Turf's already stellar marketing program.

You might have read all over the website that I work differently. As you can see I have a full time role, so this website is a bit of a side-hustle for me. That's not to say that I can't do great work for your and your team, I just need to ensure that I structure my process a little differently, so I can get the most impact for your project.

I work a little differently. See how.

Marketing & Communications Manager

2023-2024

CHRYSALIS ADVISORY

Working at this entrepreunerial health care consulting firm I was responsible for the marketing and communications promoting the work of our consulting team across the country. When arriving at the company, it was clear that the brand was outdated and tired with no real identity. I was able to embark on a journey that would see the brand become more impactful and in a short time frame, a highly recognised brand in the industry with conference attendees and clients across the country commenting on our visibility.
Of course, that visibility was backed by a strategy and execution plan to ensure that the highest level of impact could be obtained using innovative techniques and strategic communications initiatives through digital campaigns.

Notable project

While I was predominantly employed as a Marketing Manager for the business I did get the opportunity to consult with a range of clients. Notably, after an acquisition of a small medical device testing company in Sydney by Eudaemon Technologies (the client), Enersol (the acquisition) was clearly in desperate need of some help with their marketing program of work. Some key milestones of this work included:

  • A brand refresh, with a modern new look that related to their position in market as both medical device experts and engineers.
  • A new website, which more clearly communicated their products and services to the market.
  • A review and tweak of digital ad campaigns to ensure maximum spend impact and strategic ad placement.
  • A new suite of media, to populate their website and social media.
  • Various branded templates, so the team could get seamlessly transition to the new brand without missing a beat.
  • Complex set up of Pipedrive CRM for the team, to track sales and execute on marketing effectiveness.

Josh Kerr and Co. look forward to continuing our work with the Enersol team as they adopt to new technologies and marketing techniques.

Various roles ending with Senior Engagement Advisor, Digital

VICTORIA UNIVERSITY

I look back on my time at VU with fond memories. I grew a lot from the time I arrived, to the time I departed and worked with some really great people. Commencing as an Event Coordinator, I quickly progressed into roles managing some of the University's largest events including Open Day, Graduations and more. I was the lead for brand and tone of voice / comms in our events and engagement team, and was responsible for project managing the entire marketing / recruitment program of work into the digital space during the pandemic.

Timeline at VU

I was employed with VU for 8 years! A long time to be in one place and was lucky to have gained as much experience as I did while I was there. Here's a quick summary of some of the roles that I undertook while at VU.

  • 2020-2023: Senior Engagement Advisor, Digital
During my time in this role the University had a desperate need to connect with audiences in an online space due to ongoing restrictions surrounding the pandemic. My role was to create customer journeys and supporting communications that would lead to highly engaged audiences and lead to conversions surrounding key strategic objectives.
  • 2020: Senior Advisor, Digital Experience and Projects
On secondment from the Engagement & Advancement department, I was recruited into the Marketing and Future Students team to provide strategic and operational advice to tilt all recruitment activity into the digital space during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
  • 2018-2020: Senior Events Officer
Provided high level communications advice to client areas around the University surrounding projects and events including the alignment of pre and post event marketing and communications to client areas.
  • 2017-2018: Major Events & Engagement Coordinator
Lead an annual calendar of major events that supported major recruitment / sales campaigns across the University, including Open Day - the largest event on the University calendar.
  • 2015-2017: Event Coordinator
In collaboration with client areas develop, plan and deliver creative and innovative events for the University so as to engage and strengthen the University’s relationships with strategic stakeholders through providing advice and high-level event services.

Early career roles

Let's not get too heavy here, but for those interested here's a quick recap of some of my early days trying to find my way in the world!

  • I owned a Tattoo Parlour once upon a time. It was my entrepreneurial venture into the world. The business ran for around two years, grew from 2-7 tattoo artists and we had a merch line, skin care line and more!
  • I did some freelance marketing coordinator roles for local regional businesses around Bendigo and Geelong.
  • I had a short stint with an electrical distributor who imported electric motors. They needed a catalogue made and I was hired for my design skills.
  • I started out my career in an Internal Sales position, completed a Cert III in Business selling Hydraulic and Pneumatic components.
